Hyesung Grace Hwang, PhD.
I am a postdoctoral scholar investigating how social cognition develops, specifically how social exclusion and discrimination develops in early childhood. I am deeply interested in how children learn to categorize and view people based on race, language, and accents and how diversity present in early social environments could influence their development. I received my B.A. in Psychology from University of Chicago, M.S.W. from Columbia University, and PhD in Psychological & Brain Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis. At the Infant Learning and Development lab, I am pursuing research aiming to investigate the neurocognitive processes behind children’s early emerging in-group preference using EEG.
